How strong L-argininne for erectile dysfunction?

Dr Jelena Radovanovic L-arginine is an amino acid that is helping the body to build protein. And this amino acid is also found in most protein-rich foods, including fish, red meat, poultry, soy, whole grains, beans and dairy products. L-aginine can be made in a laboratory and used as medicine as well. As a supplement, L-arginine can be used orally and topically. Our body usually makes all the L-arginine it needs.

Our body is using this amino acid to make a substance called nitric oxide (NO) that dilates blood vessels and improves blood circulation. This is believed to be how L-arginine can help increase blood flow to the penis, allowing a firmer erection.
In one study, using a low dose of L-arginine (500mg three times a day) was no better than taking a placebo (sugar pill).

However, this dose was effective in men with low levels of NO and the benefit was seen after 6 weeks of treatment.

The recommended starting dose of L-arginine is 2 grams daily. However L-arginine is not designed to treat erectile dysfunction (ED) immediately (like for example Cialis or Viagra).

It needs to be used on a regular basis. Over the time, some improvements can be shown in ED treatment.

L-arginine has been studied very long as a possible treatment for ED and many other conditions as well.

The results are suggesting that the supplement alone are generally safe and well-tolerated by most men, bit is less efficient compared with other supplements.

L-arginine is often combined with other supplements and these combinations give much better results.

For example, the study showed that mild to moderate ED can be improved with a combined intake of L-arginine and Yohimbine hydrochloride.

A study found that L-arginine and pine bark extract from a tree called the Pinus pinaster together combined, helped a significant number of men with ED to achieve normal erections after the third month of treatment.

The treatment also didn’t cause any side effects.
