Manifestations of gout

Gout is caused by disorders of purine metabolism.

In these patients, uric acid begins to accumulate in the body, leading to the following signs and symptoms:
  1. Hyperuricemia, which manifests as elevated plasma levels of uric acid.

  2. Acute arthritis attacks.

  3. Gouty nodules formed in the periarticular tissues.

  4. Large amounts of uric acid accumulated in the kidneys.

  5. Urolithiasis.

The main symptom of hyperuricemia is a high concentration of uric acid in the blood, which usually reaches 416 µmol/l.

The disease is detected after performing a chemical analysis of the blood in 3–15.1 percent of patients.
