Urolithiasis due to gout

Urinary stones are often formed in patients affected by gout.

These stones are not only formed from urate, but also calcium.

The reason behind urinary stone formation is an increased concentration of uric acid in the patient's urine.

If patients have urinary stones, they should drink more fluids every day, at least more than 2 liters.

Measures should be taken to alkalinize urine, in order to increase the solubility of uric acid.

To do this, drugs such as Acetazolamide or sodium bicarbonate are prescribed to patients.

In order to get rid of urinary stones, patients can also use remedies based on calcium citrate.
